We are seeking an experienced public sector lawyer to join the Practical Law Public Sector team in the UK. Practical Law is a leading online know-how service providing expert created, practical maintained content to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. Practical Law is part of Thomson Reuters, one of the world’s most trusted providers of answers across law, tax, compliance, government and media. Practical Law editors are experienced legal professionals who sit at the intersection of law, technology and the development of AI-driven legal solutions, such as CoCounsel.
About The Role
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of, and experience in, public procurement and public sector law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.
Major responsibilities/accountabilities
- Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
- Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
- Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
- Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters' AI-powered legal solutions.
- Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
- Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
- Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.
About You
You're a fit for the role if you are a UK qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive and have:
- Substantial post-qualification experience working as a public sector lawyer in a law firm, in-house or at the bar in the UK.
- Extensive experience of public procurement law and practice.
- A good knowledge of administrative and constitutional law (legislative practice, public sector duties and decision-making).
- Strong writing skills, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
- Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilise various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
- A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.
- Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
