We are seeking an experienced corporate/commercial lawyer who is dual-qualified in Scotland and England to join the Practical Law team in the UK. Practical Law is a leading online know-how service providing expert-created, practical maintained content to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. Practical Law is part of Thomson Reuters, one of the world’s most trusted providers of answers across law, tax, compliance, government and media. Practical Law editors are experienced legal professionals who sit at the intersection of law, technology and the development of AI-driven legal solutions, such as CoCounsel.
About the Role
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of, and experience in, corporate/commercial law and practice in Scotland and England to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.
Major responsibilities/accountabilities
- Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
- Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
- Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
- Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters' AI-powered legal solutions.
- Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
- Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
- Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.
About You
You're a fit for the role if you have qualified as a lawyer in Scotland and in England and Wales and have:
- Substantial post-qualification experience of working as a corporate/commercial lawyer in a law firm, in-house or at the bar in the UK.
- Extensive experience in the following areas:
- Private M&A;
- Company formation and administration;
- Supply of goods and services terms and conditions;
- Confidentiality agreements;
- General contract law.
