We are looking for a Research Lead to join Reuters Events, a fast-growing team within Reuters. If you have extensive experience in conducting quality desk and phone-based research with senior executives, and want a chance to be directly involved in leading our events business into new industries, this role might be for you.

Reuters Events produces world-class events across the globe. We identify industries undergoing rapid business transformation, curate highly focused content that solves their challenges, and engage communities of industry influencers to foster change-driving relationships. Each event convenes global business leaders and forward thinkers to tackle the greatest challenges facing society, business and the world at large.

We are looking for an experienced Research Lead to conduct quality research that will guide our New Event strategy. In this unique role, you will be working in collaboration with existing industry teams within the company to identify growth opportunities, sense check new ideas with the leaders on the ground in those industries, and build and nurture engagement of those leaders through research, advisory boards and content.

This hybrid role will be based in our Barcelona office.

About the Role

  • Conduct strategic research into industries or industry segments both inside and outside of Reuters Events current focus.
  • Manage your research timelines, hitting key research milestones and reporting findings within the New Events team and to relevant sector leaders.
  • Determine whether new ideas are commercially viable and aligned with company objectives, as well as identify possible areas of risk or concern.
  • Be the central driver for event innovation, working with a cross-functional team to pilot new event ideas and event models, audience curation and content strategies.

About You

  • Have demonstrable experience in conducting desk and phone-based research, or event research and production more broadly.
  • Be curious about the world, interested in current news affairs, and keen to learn and understand more about a variety of different topics.
  • Be someone with the ability to identify new and interesting business trends.
  • Have a track record of commercial success, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work in changing circumstances.
  • Have strong communication skills and be comfortable engaging with senior-level executives to conduct in-depth research.
  • Be commercially driven first and foremost - you should understand the commercial drivers behind our customers' decisions, as our job is to help them make smarter ones.
