Role Description

As Financial Controller, reporting to the CFO, you will own all aspects of financial control, reporting integrity and compliance across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You will have deep technical accounting and controls expertise, international compliance experience, and a track record of driving process improvements in high-growth, multi-entity environment. You’ll work within a collaborative team that values innovation, efficiency, expertise yet the ability to roll the sleeves up and get the work done!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Global Financial Control & Reporting
    • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close processes across UK, US and ROW entities.
    • Ensure accurate and timely consolidated group reporting.
    • Maintain robust balance sheet reconciliations and strong working capital controls.
    • Oversee intercompany accounting and eliminations.
    • Deliver high-quality board reporting packs and KPI tracking, supported by robust financial data and clear analysis.
  • Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
    • Own and optimise the finance technology stack (ERP, reporting tools and integrations).
    • Implement scalable financial controls appropriate for a growing retail-tech business.
    • Improve automation across key areas such as revenue recognition, deferred income and marketplace reporting.
    • Strengthen financial processes across multiple currencies and payment platforms.
  • Statutory & Regulatory Compliance (UK / US / ROW)
    • Ensure compliance with local GAAP and statutory reporting requirements across all operating jurisdictions.
    • Oversee the preparation and submission of relevant corporate and tax filings, with support from external advisers where required.
    • Manage transfer pricing documentation and intercompany agreements.
    • Maintain strong internal controls and governance frameworks.
    • Monitor global tax exposure and legislative developments.
    • Review new commercial models and assess permanent establishment risks.
  • Cashflow & Working Capital Management
    • Manage group cashflow modelling and forecasting.
    • Monitor FX exposure and implement hedging policies where appropriate.
    • Oversee banking relationships across jurisdictions.
    • Maintain strong receivables and payables controls.
  • Commercial & Strategic Support
    • Advise senior leadership on new market entry, entity setup, and cross-border trading models.
    • Support preparation of investor reporting and financial materials as the business scales.
    • Support due diligence processes related to investment, acquisition or strategic initiatives.
    • Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with relevant PQE.
  • Experience in retail, ecommerce, or retail-tech businesses.
  • Strong multi-entity, multi-currency, and intercompany transfer pricing / accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with US tax compliance and international reporting an advantage.
  • Knowledge of indirect tax in cross-border ecommerce and marketplace revenue recognition.
  • Experience with process improvement, ERP systems.
  • Comfortable in high-growth or investor-backed environments.
