We have around 600 engineers out of roughly 5,000 people in total, and we have big ambitions.
As an engineer here you will work directly with anyone across the company, participate in knowledge‑sharing sessions and shape products used by over 11million people.
We are searching for product‑focused Android engineers to evolve our native mobile app, building polished user experiences while maintaining well‑tested, resilient code in a fast‑moving environment.
Monzo’s Android engineers work in small autonomous product squads alongside i OS, backend, user research, product design, product management, QA and data science.
The team is responsible for an overall company goal rather than a single feature, enabling a high level of impact on both what we build and how we build it.
Weekly Android discipline meetings facilitate cross‑team collaboration and code‑base improvement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and iterate on the Monzo Android app using Kotlin, MVVM, Rx Java, Retrofit, Moshi, Dagger, Coroutines, Room and Compose.
- Build well‑tested, resilient code; write unit tests for View Models, Coordinators and other logic classes, snapshot tests for Compose screens with Happo and integration tests with Espresso.
- Collaborate with product, design, backend, QA and data science teams to deliver customer‑oriented features.
- Participate in code reviews via Git Hub Pull Requests and contribute to the company’s design system.
- Engage in the Android discipline’s weekly meetings to discuss tools, techniques and process improvements.
- Own product features and be accountable for their delivery and quality.
Qualifications
- Strong experience programming in Kotlin.
- Have shipped and iterated on at least one Android app published in the Google Play Store.
- Product mindset: care about customer outcomes and data‑driven decisions.
- Ability to translate excellent design into beautiful, usable products.
- Comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast‑moving environment.
- Solid understanding of computer science principles.
- Visa sponsorship and relocation support are available for suitable candidates.
