Referment is working with a global investment and technology organisation to hire a Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer. This senior individual-contributor role will own mature production platforms while shaping their next generation through evaluation, proof-of-concept work and carefully planned migration.
The Role
- Own and maintain production virtualization platforms and storage solutions, focusing on availability, performance and resource efficiency.
- Research alternative technologies, run proofs of concept and define practical migration paths.
- Build automation and tooling that improves reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.
- Plan and execute virtualization and storage migrations with cross-functional teams.
- Provide technical direction on large, complex initiatives while remaining hands-on.
What We're Looking For
- At least ten years of hands-on experience building and supporting server virtualization in production.
- Deep expertise in VMware, Hyper-V or a KVM-based platform; experience across more than one is valuable.
- Enterprise storage and SAN experience, including storage protocols and at least one software-defined storage platform.
- Python and PowerShell programming experience.
- The judgement to evaluate platform change driven by hardware, cost or vendor considerations.
- Strong communication, organisation and independent delivery skills.
A computer science or related technical degree is preferred rather than essential. This could suit a senior virtualization, storage, platform or infrastructure engineer with a record of modernising business-critical environments.
