Referment is partnering with a leading engineering and construction business to appoint a Senior Commercial Manager to support the delivery of large-scale infrastructure and structural projects across the UK. Our client has roles spanning England, from London, West Midlands, South West and the South East of England.
The Role
You will take ownership of the commercial function across major projects, ensuring robust financial control, contractual compliance, and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors across multiple projects
- Overseeing CVRs, cost forecasting, and financial reporting
- Managing valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Providing strategic commercial input during tendering and delivery phases
- Handling contractual matters including claims, negotiations, and dispute resolution
- Driving continuous improvement across commercial processes
What We’re Looking For
- Background with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor
- Strong experience across civils, structures, or concrete projects
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in commercial management within construction
- At least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity
- Proven track record managing large-scale projects and commercial teams
- Strong knowledge of contracts, reporting, and financial controls
- Experience working on UK-based projects is highly desirable
Qualifications (Desirable, Not Essential)
- We are open to candidates from both academic and practical backgrounds:
- Degree / HND / HNC in Quantity Surveying or similar; RICS (MRICS) or working towards
- Relevant construction or commercial accreditations
- Equivalent hands‑on experience will be equally considered
Working Setup
- Primarily site‑based (5 days per week)
- Occasional travel to office locations when required
- Flexibility expected in line with project demands
