Referment is partnering with a leading UK construction and engineering business to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of major construction and infrastructure projects across the Thames Valley, including Reading, Oxford, and surrounding areas.

The Opportunity
As Health & Safety Advisor, you'll work closely with operational teams across multiple live construction sites, providing expert guidance to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
You'll be a trusted advisor to project teams, helping to embed a proactive safety culture while ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews across major construction projects
- Develop, review, and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and Health & Safety training
- Advise site management and operational teams on Health & Safety best practice
- Monitor contractor performance and promote continual safety improvement
- Maintain accurate Health & Safety documentation, audits, and compliance records
- Champion a positive safety culture across multiple project teams
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about Health & Safety and enjoys working in fast-paced construction environments.
You'll Ideally Have
- Extensive experience as a Health & Safety Advisor or Health & Safety Manager within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure
- Experience working for a UK main contractor or major infrastructure contractor
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Excellent understanding of CDM 2015
- NEBOSH Certificate, NEBOSH Diploma, or NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent)
- Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working across multiple live construction sites
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- Experience on major infrastructure, utilities, energy, highways, rail, or large civil engineering projects
- Experience using Health & Safety management systems and reporting software

Location
This role covers projects across the Thames Valley, including Reading, Oxford, and surrounding areas. Regular site travel is required, so a full UK driving licence is essential.
