Referment is working with a leading construction business to support the hire of a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team, delivering large-scale civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. We are currently looking for senior-level professionals to support projects in the South West (Plymouth), West Midlands, London, South East, North East, and North West regions. This is a site-based role (5 days per week), offering the opportunity to take full commercial ownership of complex, high-value projects from early-stage procurement through to final account.
The Role
- Managing the full pre- and post-contract commercial lifecycle, including:
- Developing and executing procurement strategies and cost planning
- Full CVR responsibility and financial reporting
- Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and risk ownership
- Identifying and managing commercial variations and complex risks
- Supporting project delivery teams with detailed forecasting and cost control
- Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams at a senior level
- Mentoring and providing line management for junior commercial staff
- Producing final accounts and ensuring total financial accuracy across large-scale schemes
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience operating at a Senior Quantity Surveyor level
- A strong background working with a UK-based Tier 1 or Tier 2 Main Contractor
- Extensive experience on large-scale civil engineering, infrastructure, or complex engineering-led projects
- Demonstrable ownership of end-to-end commercial activities, including cost planning and risk management
- A dedicated commercial focus with a track record of stability and commitment within the construction industry
- Immediate alignment with UK commercial practices and standards
Qualifications (one Or More)
- HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent senior-level experience)
- Membership (or working towards) with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) is highly valued
- BTEC / HNC / HND in Building Studies, Engineering or Management
