Referment is partnering with a leading specialist engineering and construction business to appoint a Principal Method Engineer to play a critical leadership role across major infrastructure and technically demanding construction projects. This is a senior contractor-side engineering position focused on construction methodology, buildability, temporary works strategy, staged construction, lifting operations, logistics and delivery planning. The successful candidate will lead method engineering activity across tenders, pre-construction and selected live projects, ensuring complex schemes are safe, buildable, commercially robust and deliverable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead construction methodology strategy for major bids and projects
- Drive buildability reviews and engineering optioneering
- Coordinate temporary works philosophy, lifting strategy and sequencing
- Integrate methodology with programme, commercial and risk functions
- Support DfMA, digital engineering and lower-carbon construction solutions
- Mentor and lead Method Engineers across the business
Ideal Background
- Civil or Structural Engineering degree qualified
- Extensive experience within major infrastructure, heavy civils, complex steelwork, rail, marine, nuclear or similar sectors
- Strong understanding of staged construction, temporary conditions and contractor-side engineering
- Proven experience working closely with planning, commercial, fabrication and delivery teams
- Chartered status preferred
