Portfolio Manager – Mid-Market FX (20EC2E8)

Full-Time On-site

Referment is working with a London-based foreign exchange and international payments specialist that serves mid-market and enterprise clients, helping them manage currency risk and move money globally. The firm is expanding its front-office team and hiring Portfolio Managers to originate and grow their own books of corporate FX business.

Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, you'll build a portfolio of mid-market corporate relationships from scratch β€” heavily weighted towards new business origination at first, compounding into longer-term account ownership. Portfolio Managers here are trusted as revenue owners rather than transaction processors, with direct accountability for performance and clear progression as the team grows. The role is office-based in central London, five days a week.

The Role

  • Originate new mid-market corporate clients with substantial annual FX requirements, through outbound prospecting, referrals and networking.
  • Build and develop your own portfolio of corporate FX relationships, converting opportunities into long-term, revenue-generating clients.
  • Develop trusted relationships with CFOs, Finance Directors and treasury teams at internationally active companies.
  • Understand clients' businesses, cashflows and currency exposures, and deliver tailored FX risk-management solutions aligned to their objectives.
  • Price, structure and manage FX transactions within defined margin and risk frameworks, offering strategic insight on currency markets.
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management and accurate revenue forecasting, operating within the firm's commercial and compliance framework.

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years' experience within foreign exchange, financial services or B2B sales, ideally with direct exposure to originating new corporate business.
  • Confidence engaging CFOs, Finance Directors and C-suite executives, with a consultative, solutions-led sales approach.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills, backed by disciplined organisational habits and attention to detail.
  • A coachable, competitive, ownership-driven mindset β€” you are not expected to be fully formed, but you are expected to be commercially serious and accountable.

Exposure to FX products, treasury solutions or international payments is useful rather than essential β€” the firm's stated view is that it can teach FX and financial markets to people with the right commercial ability.

Earnings are structured as a base salary with uncapped, portfolio-linked commission, so the book you build compounds over time. This could suit an ambitious early-career salesperson from an FX brokerage, bank, fintech or any B2B sales background who wants genuine portfolio ownership in a smaller, high-performance firm.
