Referment is working with an FCA-regulated global payments and e-wallet platform that helps businesses accept online payments, hold balances across multiple currencies and send payouts worldwide. The company builds the commercial infrastructure behind its product in partnership with payment providers, acquiring banks and mobile carriers, and this role sits at the heart of that work.
You will own partnership-side business development rather than merchant sales. That means finding, negotiating with and onboarding the partners who make the payment rails work: acquiring banks, mobile carriers and payment providers. It is a consultative, relationship-led remit in a team that deliberately avoids hard selling, and you will be accountable for proposals, contracts and the commercial terms that follow.
The Role
- Build working relationships with payment partners that turn into revenue for both sides
- Negotiate processing fees, payout terms, integration requirements and contract terms with acquiring banks, mobile carriers and payment providers
- Present the platform to potential partners through direct outreach, face-to-face meetings, networking events and email
- Create and own partners' proposals, contracts and supporting documentation, supported by the wider business development team
- Represent the company at industry events and trade shows to generate new leads and contacts
- Research potential partners and payment markets in detail, and translate findings into effective pitches
What We're Looking For
- At least three years' business development experience, ideally in online payments, fintech or SaaS
- A strong understanding of payment systems, fintech products and various business models
- Proven ability to manage a full sales cycle, from prospecting to closing
- Confidence discussing technical concepts such as APIs and payment integrations
- Excellent negotiation, presentation and relationship‑building skills
- Highly organised, with close attention to detail in pipeline management and reporting
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, with no restrictions on business travel
Useful Additional Background
- A degree in business administration, finance, economics, marketing or a related field
- Cross‑border experience, international exposure or fluency in more than one language
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional, multicultural teams, and an interest in fintech and gaming
The role is office‑based in London, and you will need the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship and relocation support are not offered.
This could suit an established payments or fintech business development professional who has negotiated with acquirers, PSPs or carriers and wants ownership of the partner side of a growing global payments platform.
