Referment is working with a growing technology business to hire a Head of Operations to help build the operational infrastructure required for its next stage of growth.
This is a newly created position with broad responsibility across finance, people, business operations and delivery.
You’ll work closely with the leadership team, taking ownership of day-to-day operations while introducing better systems, processes and reporting across the business.
The company is making significant use of AI and automation internally, so a big part of the opportunity will be looking at how technology can improve processes, remove repetitive work and give the leadership team better visibility across the organisation.
The Role
You’ll Be Responsible For
- Taking ownership of day-to-day business operations.
- Managing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial reporting.
- Tracking commercial performance, margins and other key business metrics.
- Supporting recruitment, people processes and performance management.
- Improving how resources and workloads are planned across the business.
- Mapping and standardising internal processes as the company grows.
- Building reporting and dashboards to give leadership better visibility across the organisation.
- Identifying opportunities to automate repetitive operational processes.
- Working with technical teams to introduce AI and automation into internal workflows.
- Establishing appropriate operational rhythms, documentation and ways of working.
- Supporting the leadership team on wider strategic and operational projects.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who has previously worked in a broad operational role within a startup, scale-up or growing technology business.
You’ll Ideally Have
- Experience across business operations, ideally within a smaller or high-growth organisation.
- Strong financial literacy, including budgeting, forecasting and an understanding of P&L.
- Experience improving and documenting business processes.
- Exposure to people operations, recruitment or performance management.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to understand business performance.
- Experience building dashboards or operational reporting.
- An interest in AI, automation and how technology can improve business operations.
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic projects and hands‑on operational work.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with senior leadership
This could suit someone currently working as a Head of Operations, Business Operations Manager, Senior Operations Manager or Chief of Staff who wants the opportunity to take ownership of a company’s operational function and build it as the business grows.
