Referment is partnering with a leading UK construction and engineering company to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor, a pivotal role ensuring the highest safety standards across a diverse portfolio of high-profile construction projects throughout London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established company delivering complex infrastructure and construction works across the capital.

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will work closely with project teams across multiple active sites, ensuring best-in-class safety standards are embedded into every stage of project delivery. You will play a key role in shaping and maintaining a proactive safety culture while ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and industry best practices. Travel between sites will be supported with either a company car or travel allowance.

The Role

As Health & Safety Advisor, you will provide expert guidance to operational teams across a range of live construction sites, helping ensure that health and safety standards are consistently maintained across all project activities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing site-specific risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
  • Investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses, recommending effective corrective and preventative actions
  • Delivering health and safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks to site teams and contractors
  • Ensuring compliance with UK health and safety legislation and internal company policies
  • Advising project teams and management on best practice in health, safety, and environmental protection
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date health and safety documentation and reporting
  • Promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across operational sites
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of H&S management systems and procedures
  • Monitoring contractor health and safety performance across multiple projects

About You

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Health & Safety professional who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and is confident working across multiple live projects.

To Be Considered For This Role You Should Have:

  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor or Manager within the construction or heavy infrastructure sectors
  • A stable employment history demonstrating longevity and commitment in previous roles
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and construction site practices
  • Advanced health and safety qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NVQ Level 6, or CMIOSH status
  • Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, site audits, and incident investigations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Confidence working collaboratively with project teams, contractors, and senior management
  • Experience using H&S management systems and reporting tools
  • Experience working for major UK construction or infrastructure contractors would be highly advantageous.

Candidates with significant UK-based construction experience will be particularly well suited to this role due to the need for familiarity with current legislation, regulatory requirements, and site practices.
