Referment is working with a London-based financial technology company whose data and analytics platform helps major investment banks, asset managers and hedge funds analyse corporate credit markets across the US, Europe and emerging markets. Its proprietary technology automatically extracts and structures financial data from company filings, so credit teams get accurate, auditable fundamentals on demand instead of chasing documents and spreading numbers by hand.
They are expanding their financial analyst team and want Big 4 senior associates ready to apply their accounting training in a very different setting: close to the technology, close to the clients, and free of large-institution bureaucracy. You will use their machine-learning data extraction system to build and maintain the data set behind their global credit product, working hand in hand with the technology team and senior management.
The Role
- Process financial reports through the company's proprietary data extraction system, built on cutting-edge machine learning and frontier AI models, to grow the data set covering US, European and emerging market credit.
- Analyse the resulting output for accuracy using internally developed software tools and techniques.
- Own your coverage universe, keeping data live through corporate earnings season.
- Interact with clients, including leading investment firms, answering questions about data and product functionality and supporting the sales and account management teams.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to review system performance and identify improvements to both internal analyst tools and the client-facing application.
What We're Looking For
- A background in accounting and/or finance, with an ACA qualification and experience as a senior associate at a Big 4 firm.
- Financial statement analysis capability, including familiarity with creating financial models and reports from scratch.
- IFRS experience is essential, including lease accounting in both Europe and the US (IFRS 16 versus ASC 842); US GAAP experience is useful.
- CFA charterholder or candidate.
- Good Excel plus experience with data management, and a genuine interest in technology as applied to financial data.
- Superior attention to detail, independent working, and a drive to automate repetitive tasks rather than repeat them.
This could suit a recently qualified or soon-to-qualify ACA senior associate who enjoys the analysis more than the audit treadmill, and wants their accounting expertise to shape a product used by credit investors worldwide. The role is permanent, full time and hybrid, based in London, with remote working flexibility offered by the company.
