Software Solutions Project Manager (A12DD3B) in Dunstable

Referment is working with an established UK software and services business that provides cloud-based infrastructure-management systems to local authorities and utility-sector organisations. Its project team delivers implementations, development work and change programmes that connect customer requirements with product, consultancy and technical delivery.

This role takes responsibility for software projects across the full lifecycle, from scope and planning through governance, delivery and closure. You will be the main customer contact, coordinating colleagues and third parties who may not report directly to you, while keeping scope, quality, budget and timescales under control. The opportunity is available on either a permanent basis or as a 12-month fixed-term appointment.

The Role

• Manage the end-to-end delivery of software implementations, development, consultancy and change projects.
• Define scope, objectives, deliverables and acceptance criteria, then maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and resource forecasts.
• Track progress and manage risks, issues, dependencies and change requests, escalating clearly when delivery is at risk.
• Act as the primary customer contact, chairing project meetings, workshops, reviews and steering groups.
• Coordinate resources across professional services, product, support, development and account management, building accountability through influence rather than line authority.
• Monitor project commercials, including budgets, profitability and utilisation, while maintaining contractual and governance standards.
• Keep status reports, RAID logs and other project records accurate, and use lessons learned to improve future delivery.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience delivering software development, implementation or digital-transformation projects.
• The ability to run several projects and competing priorities without losing control of detail, outcomes or stakeholder communication.
• Strong customer and stakeholder management skills, including the credibility to lead cross-functional groups and handle difficult conversations calmly.
• Commercial awareness and practical experience managing budgets, resources, risks and governance documentation.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with an ability to translate technical subjects into business-focused decisions.
• A collaborative, resilient approach and the judgement to balance customer expectations with operational constraints.

Experience with SaaS, cloud or enterprise software, release management, and Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery methods would be valuable. PRINCE2 Practitioner, AgilePM, PMP, APM PMQ or an equivalent qualification is desirable rather than essential.

This could suit a Software Project Manager, Implementation Project Manager or Digital Project Manager who enjoys client-facing delivery and can align specialists around a shared plan without relying on formal authority.
