Referment are partnering with a highly regarded quantitative investment firm to hire a Cloud Engineer into their core Infrastructure team.

This is an opportunity to join a technology-driven business where infrastructure is treated as a competitive advantage rather than a support function.

The environment is technically demanding, fast-moving and gives engineers genuine ownership over the platforms they build.

We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving a wide variety of infrastructure problems.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to specialise in one cloud service or spend their days managing tickets.

Instead, you'll work across cloud, Linux, networking, automation and platform engineering, taking projects from idea through to production.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll help design, build and operate a hybrid infrastructure spanning AWS, Azure and on-premise environments.

Responsibilities Include

  • Designing and improving cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure
  • Building secure, resilient and scalable platforms for production workloads
  • Working on cloud networking including routing, connectivity, DNS and hybrid infrastructure
  • Automating infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting
  • Driving improvements around monitoring, observability and incident response
  • Owning infrastructure lifecycle management including upgrades, patching and resilience
  • Working closely with networking, security and development teams to deliver practical engineering solutions
  • Evaluating new technologies and helping shape the future technical direction of the platform

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will likely have several years of experience in infrastructure or cloud engineering and, more importantly, a genuine enthusiasm for technology.

  • You’ll Probably Bring
  • Strong Linux systems administration experience
  • Good knowledge of AWS and/or Azure
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible or similar)
  • Solid networking fundamentals
  • Experience supporting production infrastructure
  • Python or other scripting experience

Experience within financial services is beneficial but by no means essential.

The Type Of Person Who Succeeds Here

Technical skills matter, but attitude matters just as much.

  • The Team Values Engineers Who
  • Have a genuine "can-do" mentality
  • Are naturally curious and enjoy learning new technologies
  • Take ownership rather than waiting to be asked
  • Are comfortable wearing multiple hats across infrastructure
  • Prefer solving problems collaboratively instead of protecting narrow areas of expertise
  • Want to understand how the business works rather than simply maintaining systems

This role would particularly suit someone who's developed broad infrastructure experience in a high-performing engineering environment and is looking to take on more ownership in a business where good ideas are recognised quickly.

If you enjoy building reliable infrastructure, learning new technologies and working alongside talented engineers in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.
