Test Technician
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum (DOE) Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
We are recruiting for an experienced Test Technician to join a well‑established engineering and manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on Test Technician with a strong electronics background to work on technically advanced products within a specialist manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Test Technician
- Test electronic assemblies and finished products in line with test specifications.
- Complete detailed test documentation and reports.
- Diagnose and fault‑find to component level on PCB assemblies and electronic systems.
- Identify root causes of failures and record non‑conformances.
- Ensure testing is completed to production schedules and quality standards.
- Support the maintenance and calibration of test equipment.
- Read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics and technical documentation.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and housekeeping within the test area.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production process.
The Test Technician will need to meet the following key requirements
- Previous experience as a Test Technician or in a similar electronics manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault‑finding skills to component level.
- Experience working with analogue and digital electronics.
- Knowledge of high voltage, power electronics or switch mode power supplies (SMPS).
- Ability to read and understand circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters and power supplies.
- Good PC skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to testing.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Experience working in a low‑volume, high‑complexity manufacturing environment is advantageous.
- HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
