We are supporting an innovative engineering organisation operating within the aerospace, defence and advanced technology sectors, seeking a talented engineer to join their growing mechanical design team. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging programmes, developing next-generation composite structures for mission-critical applications whilst collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the full product development lifecycle.

The Role

As a Composites Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development and certification of advanced composite and hybrid structures, ensuring solutions meet demanding customer, regulatory and performance requirements.

Responsibilities as a Composites Design Engineer will include:

  • Designing aerospace composite and hybrid structures using 3D CAD software.
  • Producing detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Supporting products throughout the design, development and certification lifecycle.
  • Working as part of an integrated project team to ensure customer requirements are achieved.
  • Developing certification and qualification plans, including QTPs and QTRs.
  • Supporting technical reviews and design validation activities.
  • Collaborating closely with manufacturing, stress, test and certification teams.

About You as a Composites Design Engineer:

To be successful in this role, you are likely to possess:

  • Degree or HND qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience designing fibre reinforced composite structures within aerospace, defence, automotive or similarly regulated industries.
  • A strong understanding of composite design methodologies, materials and best practices.
  • Experience working with aerospace design and certification processes.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD packages, ideally CATIA V5.
  • Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within small, collaborative engineering teams.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to continue learning and developing technically.
