An established precision engineering business, specialising in high-performance machined components and complex assemblies for highly regulated, safety-critical sectors, is looking for a Mechanical Development Engineer to join its Design team. This is a hands-on, varied role where a Mechanical Development Engineer will bridge the gap between design, manufacture and production readiness, ensuring customer assemblies are robust, practical and fully defined.
What You’ll Do as a Mechanical Development Engineer:
- Review customer assemblies for manufacturability and component suitability
- Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve design or process issues
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings in the MRP system
- Ensure designs are production-ready and aligned with workshop capabilities
- Support cross-functional teams, from Purchasing to Account Management
Skills & Experience of a Mechanical Development Engineer:
- Engineering knowledge and practical experience suited to a Mechanical Development Engineer role
- Mechanical degree advantageous but not essential
- CAD modelling experience
- Understanding of workshop/manufacturing processes
