An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven engineer to join a small, innovative R&D team in a market-leading engineering business. This is a commercial, product-focused role, combining design, development, and hands-on prototyping and testing. You’ll work across applications and product development projects, helping shape and deliver practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design, development, and testing of new machinery and product lines.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models (SolidWorks) and 2D drawings to support prototyping and production.
  • Build, assemble, and test prototypes in dedicated R&D facilities, including wet test and assembly areas.
  • Research and specify components, materials, and suppliers to support innovation and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with the wider engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and meet business requirements.
  • Record test results, prepare technical documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Ideal Candidate

  • 3–5 years’ commercial engineering experience (not graduate level).
  • Strong SolidWorks 3D modelling skills.
  • Comfortable with hands-on prototyping, assembly, and testing; this is not a purely desk-based CAD role.
  • Able to work autonomously in a small team environment.
  • Strong practical problem-solving skills and technical fundamentals.
  • Commercially minded, understanding the need to deliver products efficiently and effectively.
  • BEng / MEng in Engineering or equivalent.

Why Join

  • Be part of a small, collaborative R&D team with direct impact on product development.
  • Work in a well-equipped environment with prototyping, testing, and fabrication facilities.
  • Opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in a growing engineering business.
