Are you an experienced Mechatronics Design Engineer looking for a varied and technically challenging role within bespoke automation and special purpose machinery? This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechatronics Design Engineer to join a highly specialised engineering team delivering complex automation systems used across global industrial facilities spanning a number of highly regulated markets and advanced engineering sectors.

As a Mechatronics Design Engineer, you will play a key role throughout the full project lifecycle from concept and design through to installation, commissioning and ongoing engineering support.

The successful Mechatronics Design Engineer will support the design, development and delivery of bespoke automation equipment and engineered systems used across international manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on and technically diverse role, combining mechatronics design, project engineering, mechanical and electrical integration, system development and customer-facing project coordination.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing engineering projects through the full lifecycle
  • Producing technical proposals, specifications and engineering documentation
  • Supporting budgeting, scheduling and project delivery activities
  • Coordinating engineering deliverables and technical submissions
  • Mechanical and electrical system design and integration
  • Developing mechatronic assemblies and automation solutions
  • Creating BOMs, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts
  • Conducting equipment testing and performance validation
  • Supporting machine builds, panel wiring and system integration
  • Working with robotics, sensors, feeders and automation equipment
  • Supporting on-site installation and commissioning activities
  • Providing ongoing technical support for deployed equipment globally
  • Travelling internationally to customer and manufacturing sites as required

We are interested in engineers with a strong mechatronics and automation background and a passion for solving complex technical challenges. Suitable candidates are likely to have:

  • Degree qualification in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience within automation, special purpose machinery or engineered systems environments
  • Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems and components
  • Experience producing electrical schematics and wiring layouts
  • Strong CAD capability, ideally using SolidWorks
  • Experience within manufacturing or industrial engineering environments
  • Good understanding of machine integration and automation systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering activities simultaneously
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Experience with any of the following would be advantageous: Control panels, Robotics, Sensors and instrumentation, Linear motion systems, Machine automation, Mechanical integration, Electrical hardware design, PLC systems and industrial controls
