We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Mechanical Buyer to join a growing Purchasing and Supply Chain team in Milton Keynes.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Buyer to play a key role in supplier management, sourcing strategy, cost reduction initiatives and new product introduction programmes.
The selected Mechanical Buyer will be working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain teams, the successful Mechanical Buyer will help ensure a robust and sustainable supply base capable of supporting current production demands and future growth.
Key Responsibilities for the appointed Mechanical Buyer Develop and maintain a competitive, reliable supplier base for mechanical components and engineered products.
Source components for current and future product programmes in line with cost, quality and delivery targets.
Lead supplier selection, tendering and contract negotiation activities.
Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives through supplier engagement and design-to-cost methodologies.
Manage supplier performance, quality, delivery and risk management activities.
Conduct capacity and lead-time analysis to support production requirements.
Build strong supplier relationships and resolve supply chain issues effectively.
Represent Purchasing within cross-functional project meetings and business improvement activities.
Contribute to the development of sourcing strategies and supplier development programmes.
The selected Mechanical Buyer will meet the following key requirements; Previous experience as a Mechanical Buyer, Buyer, Commodity Buyer or Purchasing professional within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
Strong supplier management, negotiation and contract management experience.
Experience delivering against key business objectives and performance metrics.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
Full UK driving licence preferred.
Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required (approximately 10-20%).
