An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a fast-growing engineering business that is doubling in size. This role is ideally suited to an engineering graduate with 1-2 years of industry experience who is looking to develop their career in a hands-on, production-focused environment.
You will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations, improving production processes, and contributing to the successful industrialisation of new and existing products. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll help drive a right-first-time culture in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop manufacturing tooling and processes to support the production of metallic systems
- Create, maintain, and improve manufacturing instructions and standard operating procedures
- Support the industrialisation of new products, using structured project management approaches
- Provide engineering support to production, optimising tooling and processes for existing products
- Work closely with suppliers to source and manage replacement tooling
- Use root cause and corrective action (RCCA) techniques to resolve production issues
- Lead continuous improvement projects from concept through to implementation
- Uphold engineering and production standards, including 5S principles
- Evaluate and improve process efficiency through time and motion studies
- Use cost data to assess cost-effective manufacturing methods and design decisions
- Apply a range of continuous improvement tools to enhance production performance
- Ability to create manufacturing sequences for multi-level assemblies
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a changing environment
- Experience using MRP systems
- A proactive, self-starting mindset with the ability to rapidly iterate and improve processes
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to drive tasks to completion
- Ability to interpret cost data to support capital investment decisions
- Experience with welding processes and non-destructive testing is desirable
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. MS Project) is desirable
- Experience conducting make vs buy assessments using cost data is desirable
- Degree in an engineering or science discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience
