We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of industrial noise control and exhaust treatment systems for power and heavy industrial applications. Due to continued growth and ongoing business success, the engineering team is expanding with the addition of a Mechanical Design / Drafting Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior or early-career mechanical engineer looking to develop into a fully‑fledged design engineer within a supportive and technically focused environment.

The Role

  • Initially, the role will focus heavily on drafting and supporting the senior engineering team through:
    • 3D CAD drafting and drawing updates
    • Simple engineering modifications
    • Manufacturing drawing creation
    • Supporting ongoing engineering projects
    • Reducing drafting workload within the team
  • Over time, the position is designed to evolve into a broader engineering role with increasing responsibility, including:
    • Design modifications and engineering calculations
    • Customer‑facing engineering support
    • Ownership of drawing packs and projects
    • Design reviews with manufacturing teams
    • Engineering change and cost‑impact updates

Essential Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 3D CAD experience (Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar)
  • Strong engineering fundamentals

Desirable Experience

  • Fabrication or welding exposure
  • Sheet metal or rolled/cylindrical product design
  • Stainless steel or carbon steel experience
  • Manufacturing drawings and drafting standards
  • Hands‑on engineering mindset
