We are working with a highly specialised engineering and manufacturing organisation seeking an experienced Leader to join the business in an exciting new Test Manager role, leading and shaping the test department. This is a hands-on leadership Test Manager position overseeing the testing of complex electromechanical systems, ensuring products meet stringent quality, safety, and performance standards before delivery.
The Role of the Electronics Test Manager
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Test Manager will take full responsibility for the test function, managing a team of 10. The role will play a key part in establishing best practices, improving processes, and driving performance across the department. This is a key leadership opportunity for a driven Manager looking to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities of the Electronics Test Manager
- Oversee the day-to-day management and administration of the test department as the Test Manager
- Lead, mentor, and develop Team Leaders and Test Technicians
- Plan and coordinate all testing activities in line with procedures, specifications, and schedules
- Ensure compliance with company health & safety and radiation procedures
- Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to resolve issues and improve reliability
- Support on-time, in-full delivery of products to customer commitments
- Develop, maintain, and improve test procedures and documentation
- Lead root cause analysis of product failures and implement corrective actions
- Drive lean and continuous improvement initiatives across the department as the Test Manager
- Support the design and development of new test equipment
- Work closely with engineering on New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Coordinate cross-training and upskilling within the team
- Plan and deliver test equipment maintenance activities
About You Ideal Electronics Test Manager
- Minimum 7 years experience testing electrical/electronic equipment
- At least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory Test Manager or equivalent role
- Strong hands-on experience with PCB fault diagnosis and root cause analysis
- Hands-on expertise in analogue, high voltage, and power electronics
- Experience working with both analogue and digital circuitry
- Proven ability to write and develop detailed test procedures
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate data
- Experience driving lean and continuous improvement activities
- Excellent communication skills across all levels
- Passion for mentoring, coaching, and developing teams
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, can-do attitude
Desirable for the Electronics Test Manager Role
- Experience with high power switch mode power supplies
- Background within similar high voltage or regulated engineering environments
Qualifications
- HND (or equivalent) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
