Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist
Location: Reading, UK
Shift: Night Shift (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Monday to Friday)
Salary: £40,000 per annum £2/hour shift allowance 6% bonus

What You\’ll Do:
Working closely with the EHS Manager, you\’ll help maintain and improve our EHS programs at our Reading facility, ensuring full compliance with UK health, safety, and environmental regulations. This is a hands-on, site-based role on the night shift, ideal for someone confident in taking initiative and leading safety efforts across the plant.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update our Emergency Action Plan, Legal Register, and Risk Management System
  • Conduct emergency drills and ensure emergency response readiness
  • Support environmental compliance, including hazardous waste handling and sustainability programs
  • Oversee MSDS database and chemical safety records
  • Lead monthly safety committee meetings and safety audits
  • Track and report on workplace injuries and safety metrics
  • Promote and present safety topics to employees
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Health & Safety, or Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an EHS role (preferably in manufacturing)
  • Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills
  • Comfortable working independently on the night shift
  • Working knowledge of UK EHS laws and ISO standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

The Role Includes:

  • Night shift hours: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Monday to Friday
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments requiring PPE
  • Some physical activity (standing, walking, lifting up to 25–40 lbs)
