The Role:

As Engineering Manager, you will be pivotal in driving R&D and product development, working closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure engineering output aligns with commercial goals. You will lead a multi‑disciplinary team covering electronics, embedded firmware, and mechanical design, delivering innovative, high‑quality products for the high‑voltage industry.

Key Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse UK engineering team across R&D and sustaining functions
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget, and to‑scope delivery
  • Review and approve product designs, ensuring regulatory and quality compliance
  • Collaborate across teams to support new product introductions and continuous improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and career development to team members
  • Work with supply chain and external partners to support manufacturing

Key Experience & Skills of the Engineering Manager:

  • Proven experience leading cross‑functional engineering teams
  • Degree‑qualified in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Strong understanding of product development lifecycle – concept to production
  • Experience in high‑voltage design or X‑ray systems is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially aware, innovative, and able to balance multiple priorities
