Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture, designing customised equipment that solves real-world engineering challenges.

Working closely with an onsite manufacturing facility, you'll see your designs come to life while collaborating with Sales, Production and customers to deliver high-quality engineered solutions.

What you'll be doing on a Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Designing bespoke mechanical equipment using 2D and 3D CAD.
  • Producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
  • Managing projects from customer order through to production.
  • Providing technical support to Sales and customers.
  • Working with suppliers to source specialist components.
  • Supporting manufacturing and resolving technical issues on the shop floor.
  • Continuously improving designs and engineering processes.

What we're looking for in a Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or Degree).
  • Experience designing bespoke mechanical products or machinery.
  • Strong 2D & 3D CAD skills
  • Good understanding of fabrication, welded assemblies and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Experience working within an ISO9001 environment.

Desirable experience

  • Sheet metal or fabricated machinery design.
  • Rotary equipment.
  • Bulk material handling or process equipment.
  • ERP systems (Epicor desirable).
  • Knowledge of ATEX, CE, UKCA or UL standards.
  • Electrical or electronic engineering awareness.
