We are seeking a proactive and motivated Senior Electronics Engineer to join a small, highly skilled Engineering and Production team based in Wokingham. This office-based role offers the opportunity for a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design and verification of innovative new products while maintaining and improving existing electronic designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electronics design projects from initial concept through to production.
  • Maintain and enhance existing PCBAs and electronic sub-assemblies, providing expert guidance on design improvements.
  • Perform functional and quality assurance testing, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Work with external PCBA consultants and contract manufacturers to ensure project success.
  • Design system architecture, schematics, and PCB layouts using ECAD tools such as Altium, EAGLE, and PADS.
  • Support regulatory certification activities (CE, LVD, RoHS).
  • Produce and maintain accurate design documentation, including BoMs, schematics, and PCB data files.
  • Provide technical support to Production staff and manufacturing partners.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and manage obsolescence of electronic designs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Electronics or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience in electronics design, testing, and low-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong mixed-signal design skills (analogue and digital), including high sensitivity receivers, small signal linear design, and lock-in detectors.
  • Experience with embedded controller hardware, microcontrollers, FPGAs, and digital control.
  • Proficiency with communication interfaces (UART, USB, TWI/I2C, RS485) and power management (3.3V to 24V DC).
  • Understanding of opto-electronics, including pulsed laser drivers, SLD/SLED light sources, APD/PIN detectors, optical modulators, and TEC temperature control.
  • Competent in schematic capture, PCB layout, and system modelling (Altium preferred).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and modify legacy designs, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills, well-organised, and effective in communicating with internal and external teams.
