A lot to get your teeth into.If you’re the kind of engineer who wants to know why something isn’t working, how it works in the first place, and whether you can make it better, this could be a very interesting opportunity. We’re looking for a Technical Engineer to join an innovative technology business developing connected products used across industrial and telecommunications applications. And this isn't a role where you'll be boxed into one area of engineering. You'll get your hands on electronics, embedded hardware, networking, cellular technology, software, testing, components and product development — building your knowledge across multiple disciplines and becoming the go-to technical expert for an expanding range of products. What will your day actually look like?No two days need to be the same. One day you could be investigating a fault on a PCB. The next, you might be testing firmware, troubleshooting a network connection, analysing results in Excel or digging through a component datasheet to find a suitable alternative. You could be: Getting hands-on with PCBs, prototypes, soldering and rework Investigating technical problems across hardware, software and firmware Testing products and helping verify new developments before release Using Excel and technical data to identify trends, compare results and support engineering decisions Turning your findings into clear technical documentation, application notes and guidance Working alongside developers, engineers, product teams, sales and marketing Presenting technical information and demonstrating products to different audiences Researching new components, technologies and solutions when a problem needs solvingYou don't need to know everything.In fact, that's part of the appeal. You'll initially work closely with an experienced engineer who will transfer their knowledge and bring you up to speed with the technology and products. As your understanding grows, so will your responsibility. The aim is to develop you into someone who can take ownership, solve problems independently and become a key technical resource within the business. Who could this suit?Perhaps you're an Electronics Engineer who wants broader exposure. Maybe you're working in embedded systems, telecommunications, networking or product development and want to expand your skill set. Or perhaps you're an engineer early in your career who has the technical foundations but wants an environment where you can learn rather than simply be expected to already know it all. We're looking for: A strong technical mindset and genuine curiosity Good understanding of electronics and/or embedded technology The ability to understand schematics, PCBs, components and datasheets Some exposure to software, firmware or networking Strong Excel skills and confidence working with technical data Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability The confidence to explain technical information clearly A willingness to get hands-on and learnA relevant technical qualification is useful, but practical ability and potential matter more than having every box ticked. Around 2 years' experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, telecoms or product environment would be ideal, although we’re open to engineers with less experience who can demonstrate the right technical aptitude.
