The Opportunity A growing technology business is looking for a PCS Controls Engineer to develop advanced control systems for grid-connected power conversion technology.
This is a hands-on role combining control systems, embedded software and power electronics, with a focus on grid-following and grid-forming technologies.
As a PCS Controls Engineer, you'll work across modelling, simulation, code generation and real-time testing alongside hardware, software and systems teams.
The Role Develop control models for grid-connected inverters.
Work with grid-following/grid-forming controls, voltage & current regulation, power control and protection.
Design and validate models using MATLAB / Simulink / Stateflow.
Generate embedded C using Embedded Coder / Simulink Coder.
Support MIL, SIL and HIL testing.
Debug and optimise real-time embedded controls.
Collaborate with hardware, software and systems engineers.
Maintain requirements traceability and version control.
What We're Looking For 5 years' MATLAB/Simulink control development experience.
Degree/Master's in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems or similar.
Strong Simulink Coder / Embedded Coder experience.
Good understanding of grid-following and/or grid-forming inverter technology.
Experience with HIL testing such as d SPACE or Typhoon HIL.
Strong control theory and embedded systems knowledge.
Working knowledge of CAN and tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer or CANape.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Experience with EN 50549, G99, IEEE 1547 or similar standards.
Simscape / power electronics simulation.
Python or MATLAB test automation.
C/C or embedded firmware.
Git, JIRA or Jenkins.
