A growing engineering and automation business is looking to recruit a Project Engineer to support the delivery of bespoke mechanical engineering and automation projects for globally recognised manufacturing customers. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly experienced engineering team delivering complex turnkey projects across automated systems, special purpose machinery, tooling, jigs & fixtures, and material handling solutions. The Role
Working closely with the Project Management and Engineering teams, you will support projects from initial order through to manufacture, testing, installation, and customer handover. Responsibilities will include:
- Managing technical project activities throughout the project lifecycle
- Supporting project planning, scheduling, and coordination
- Managing suppliers, stakeholders, and customer communication
- Supporting procurement, manufacturing, testing, and installation activities
- Managing BOMs, technical files, and project documentation
- Ensuring projects meet technical and customer requirements
- Supporting project testing and validation activities
- Working across multiple projects at varying stages simultaneously
Occasional UK and international travel may be required.
Requirements
Suitable candidates will ideally have:
- Mechanical engineering experience within manufacturing, automation, or machinery environments
- Experience supporting or delivering engineering projects
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and mechanical systems
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience with CAD, special purpose machinery, automation systems, pneumatics, or hands-on assembly/manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
