SEND School - September Start

Reeson Education are recruiting for a dedicated, confident, and compassionate HLTA to join a fantastic specialist SEND school in the SK6 area. This is a full-time, long-term HLTA opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right HLTA. The school caters for pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs and prides itself on providing a nurturing, supportive, and highly inclusive environment where every young person is encouraged to achieve their full potential. This rewarding HLTA role will involve supporting teaching and learning across the school, delivering pre-planned lessons when required, covering classes, leading small group interventions, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. The successful HLTA will work closely with teachers, support staff, therapists, and senior leaders to ensure pupils receive the very best support. HLTA Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons confidently as an HLTA when teachers are absent.
  • Support teaching and learning across the school.
  • Lead small group interventions and targeted support sessions.
  • Cover classes when required within a SEND setting as an HLTA.
  • Support pupils with a variety of additional needs to access learning successfully.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils through consistency, patience, and encouragement.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and independence skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
  • Promote a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

HLTA Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an HLTA or in a similar classroom leadership role.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Confident delivering lessons and leading learning independently.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexible, resilient, and adaptable approach.
  • Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
