Are you a supportive and compassionate individual with a passion for working with children? We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work full time at a special needs school based in Southampton. This is a school that provides education that is catered to the personalised needs of each learner with moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Focusing on a holistic curriculum that is guided by a team of Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists to ensure each learner can unlock their full potential.

Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safeguarding/health and safety policies of the school
  • Adapt learning support to meet the personalised needs of each learner
  • Understand how ASD can create barriers to learning and how to overcome them
  • Use positive behaviour techniques
  • Encourage self-regulation, social communication and independence
  • Support on a 1:1 basis
  • Assist with personal care if required
