A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in the Wandsworth borough is seeking an experienced and compassionate Inclusion Base Teacher to join their specialist SEMH provision from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled teacher with a strong understanding of social, emotional and mental health needs to make a genuine impact within a supportive and child-centred school community. The Role

As the Inclusion Base Teacher, you will deliver high-quality teaching and therapeutic support for pupils with SEMH needs within a specialist provision attached to the mainstream setting. You will work closely with senior leaders, support staff, families and external agencies to provide a structured, nurturing and aspirational learning environment that supports emotional regulation, engagement and progress. The role will include:

  • Delivering adaptive and inclusive teaching tailored to individual needs
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social development
  • Creating strong routines and positive relationships to promote engagement
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, families and outside professionals
  • Supporting reintegration into mainstream classrooms where appropriate
  • Using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches in daily practice
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the SEMH provision

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have substantial experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs within mainstream or specialist settings
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of trauma-informed, nurture-based and attachment-aware practice
  • Have excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Possess a strong understanding of SEND processes and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Be resilient, reflective and passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a specialist resource base, nurture provision or alternative provision
  • National SENCo Qualification
  • Additional training or qualifications linked to SEMH, SEND or inclusion
