Job Description

Tutor:

Based in Westminster, we are looking for a dedicated and experienced ASD 1:1 Tutor to support a KS1 student with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and PDA. This role begins in September and offers 15-17 hours per week of meaningful, one-to-one teaching based in Westminster, a short walk from Victoria Station.

Tutor Specifics

Hours: 15 hours per weekStart Date: September 2025Pay: minimum £30 per hour

Training: Paid for online course (3 hours) for PDA training provided to the successful candidate

About the Tutor role:

About the Tutor tuition:

Based in London, The student is autistic with a PDA profile, meaning they experience high anxiety around everyday demands and require a flexible, relationship-based approach. They thrive best when learning feels collaborative, low-demand, and emotionally safe. It is imperative that the tutor has experience with workig with students or has lived experience with PDA

Ideal Tutor:

  • Experience working with SEN children, particularly those with autism (ASD)

  • Confident in planning and adapting lessons in line with KS1 learning objectives.

  • Calm, empathetic, and responsive to the child's needs and cues.

  • Excellent communication and patience.

  • Knowledge of the EYFS framework and primary curriculum.
  • Experience of low arousal techniques, trauma informed practice, co regulation.
  • Knowledge or experience of autonomous self directed learning.
  • Knowledge of the mastery scales, and various pathway levels used within the curriulum.
  • Knowledge of gestalt processing.

ASD Tutor requirements:

  • Experience in SEN, tutoring, or teaching (particularly with autism or pathological demand avoidance).

  • Good understanding of the KS1 curriculum.

  • QTS or equivalent is desired but not required
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
