Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are looking for a dedicated and patient Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis supporting a pupil with SEMH needs in a specialist SEN school in the beautiful town of Keswick, Cumbria.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide tailored support that helps a young person engage with learning, develop emotional regulation, and build confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalised 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using positive strategies
- Support the pupil\’s emotional well-being and social development
- Assist the class teacher with delivering learning activities
- Maintain records and contribute to support plans and reviews
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external professionals
About You:
- Experience working with children with SEMH or in an SEN setting (desirable)
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or behaviour management are advantageous
- Team Teach or similar behaviour de-escalation training (training can be provided)
