Reeson Education is recruiting for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and well-established SEN school in the SK6 area. This is a full-time, long-term Learning Support Assistant position supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs.
The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with pupils across the school, supporting learning, communication, emotional regulation, independence and personal development. This role would suit an experienced Learning Support Assistant or someone with transferable experience from care, support work, youth work or similar backgrounds.
This SEN school supports pupils with a variety of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, learning difficulties, communication needs and other complex SEND requirements.
- Support pupils with a range of SEND needs as a Learning Support Assistant
- Provide 1:1, 2:1 and small group support as a Learning Support Assistant
- Assist pupils with communication, engagement and emotional regulation
- Adapt activities and learning resources to meet individual needs
- Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and support staff as a Learning Support Assistant
- Support sensory-based learning and intervention activities
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker or similar is desirable. The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
