A friendly, inclusive and successful two-form entry primary school in Croydon is seeking a caring and committed SEN Learning Support Assistant to join its supportive team on a fixed-term basis. The role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide effective classroom and pastoral support to pupils across the school, with a particular focus on children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEN). The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
- Support children of all abilities to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
- Work alongside class teachers to support learning and development.
- Deliver appropriate interventions to support individual pupil needs.
- Help pupils develop their confidence, independence and learning skills.
- Provide classroom and playground support across the school.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with individual pupils and groups.
- Adapt support and activities to meet the needs of individual children.
- Maintain high expectations for pupil behaviour, progress and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the school team.
The Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant
- Has an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Has experience working within a primary school environment.
- Has experience supporting children with SEND, which would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Has a caring, positive and nurturing approach to working with children.
- Holds high expectations of pupils and themselves.
- Is flexible, committed and willing to go the extra mile for pupils.
- Has strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Can plan and deliver appropriate interventions.
- Is confident working with children of different ages and abilities.
- Is able to work effectively as part of a busy and inclusive school team.
- Understands and respects the distinctive nature of a Church of England school.
