SEN Maths Teacher – Lewisham

A truly fantastic ASD secondary school in Lewisham that has students with mild learning difficulties (MLD) and communication needs is looking for a SEN Maths teacher to foundation GCSE level for an immediate start. This school is a lovely, small SEN school whereby the students all have a diagnosis of autism. The aim of this school is to allow these students to be as successful as possible for future employment by having an inspiring curriculum that focuses on independence skills, lifelong learning and taking part in the local community.

The SEN Maths Teacher Job

Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Maths Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children? We are seeking a SEN Maths Teacher for a vibrant primary school in Lewisham specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and mild learning difficulties (MLD).

In this rewarding SEN Maths Teacher role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each student. Your expertise as an SEN Maths Teacher will allow you to build lessons appropriate for students to build on basic mathematical foundations.

SEN Maths Teacher Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement personalised educational programs
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as needed in the classroom
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school
  • Work with and lead a support team within the classroom
  • Work with GCSE maths up to foundation level
  • Able or willing to teach science to an entry level

SEN Maths Teacher Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • SEN experience is desired but NOT required
  • Experience working in a primary education setting is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
