The Role

As a Secondary Sensory Teacher, you will plan and deliver personalised lessons using sensory-based teaching approaches that meet the needs of each student. You will work alongside therapists, teaching assistants and families to ensure pupils receive a consistent and engaging learning experience.

Key Duties

  • Deliver creative sensory-based lessons.
  • Plan learning that meets each student's educational and developmental needs.
  • Use a range of sensory resources, communication strategies and practical activities.
  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Create a calm, structured and engaging classroom environment.
  • Work alongside teaching assistants, therapists and parents to promote positive outcomes.
  • Encourage communication, confidence and independence through meaningful learning experiences.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching secondary-aged students.
  • Knowledge of autism, complex learning needs or sensory learning is desirable.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • A positive and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Previous experience within an SEN setting is welcomed but not essential.
