Pay: £14.25 to £16.65 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella)

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (30-minute lunch)

Reeson Education is recruiting a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a Primary SEMH Provision within a mainstream primary school in Salford (M5). This is a long-term opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils across KS2 with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with pupils who present with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, behavioural challenges, and other complex needs, providing consistent support to help them regulate emotions, access learning, and build positive relationships within the school environment.

This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who thrives in structured SEMH settings, understands behaviour as communication, and can remain calm, patient, and nurturing in challenging situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support KS2 pupils within the SEMH provision
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support
  • Support pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural needs
  • Help pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour
  • Adapt learning activities and resources
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
  • Support learning during class time, interventions, and transitions
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and school policies

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary, SEND, or SEMH setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD and ADHD
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
