Are you a passionate and experienced Sports Lead ready to inspire young people and use sport to make a lasting difference in the lives of pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Reeson Education are looking for a motivated Sports Lead to join an Independent SEMH School in Rotherham (S65) starting from September 2026. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a confident professional who can lead and develop the school's sports provision while using physical activity to improve pupils' wellbeing, engagement, confidence, and personal development.
As a Sports Lead, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality PE lessons, sports programmes, and enrichment activities across the school. You will lead the development of physical education, promote healthy lifestyles, and work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to use sport as a positive intervention for pupils with SEMH needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Sports Programme Leadership: Lead and develop an engaging PE curriculum, sports activities, and enrichment programmes that meet the needs of all pupils.
- Behaviour & Wellbeing Through Sport: Use physical activity to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, resilience, teamwork, and self-confidence.
- Student Development: Inspire pupils to participate in sport, encouraging healthy lifestyles, personal achievement, and positive relationships.
- Progress Monitoring: Assess and monitor pupils' physical development, participation, and engagement, providing feedback to school leaders and teaching staff.
- Whole-School Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, SEN professionals, and families to support pupils' academic, emotional, and physical development.
To succeed as Sports Lead
- Experience leading sports, PE, or physical activity programmes within a school, youth work, or similar educational setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Confidence supporting pupils with SEMH needs and promoting positive behaviour through sport.
- A proactive, resilient, and enthusiastic approach to leading physical education.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply through Reeson Education.
