About the SEMH Secondary Teacher Role
As an SEMH Secondary Teacher, you will deliver structured and purposeful lessons across the secondary curriculum while maintaining firm routines and clear expectations. You will support pupils with SEMH needs using consistent, practical strategies to develop subject knowledge, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver clear, engaging lessons aligned to pupils' academic and emotional needs across the secondary curriculum.
- Maintain strong routines, boundaries, and a controlled learning environment.
- Apply consistent behaviour strategies that promote accountability, focus, and emotional stability.
- Track academic progress and behavioural development accurately and professionally.
- Work closely with support staff, senior leaders, and external professionals to ensure coordinated support for pupils.
To Succeed
- Proven experience teaching within SEMH, SEN, or alternative provision at secondary level.
- A strong classroom presence with confident, authoritative communication.
- The ability to manage challenging behaviour with firmness, consistency, and empathy.
- A resilient, practical, and solution-focused teaching approach.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply through Reeson Education.
