We are seeking an experienced and compassionate tutor to support an autistic child with ASD and some SEMH needs. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's life by creating a positive and responsive learning environment. You will be working two-to-one with the young person, primarily within a home and school.

This role will require some planning (alongside class teachers) and feedback to be delivered to parents and multi-disciplinary teams.

This part time tutor role will involve working with teachers delivering and differentiating the bespoke curriculum that will be delivered to the student, alongside a mentor. It will be essential to ensure the tutor has strong behaviour management skills. This student is attending a mainstream school and will have extra support whilst in school from a 1.1 Mentor and a tutor.

Tutor Key Responsibilities
  • Willingness to be flexible; this tuition may take place in school sometimes or in the home.
  • Deliver a differentiated curriculum working alongside the students' teachers.
  • Build trust and emotional safety by attuning to the young person's pace and preferences.
  • Use positive, non-directive methods to support learning and engagement.
  • Respect and support the young person's independence while remaining available to step in before overwhelm.
  • Identify and anticipate sensory and emotional triggers.
  • Encourage initiation, allow time for processing, and offer flexible choices.
  • Promote emotional regulation through calm and consistent presence.
  • Be willing to accompany the young person to safe and familiar places that support well-being and learning.
Essential Qualities
  • Experience working with autistic children or children with complex SEN.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH is desired but not essential.
  • Flexibility around how the package is delivered.
