We are delighted to be working with a warm, supportive, and inclusive SEN school in Chiswick catering for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and additional social, emotional, or behavioural needs. The school is well-resourced with smaller class sizes, a nurturing environment, and a dedicated staff team that works collaboratively to support pupils' academic and personal growth. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a strong and resilient male Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with SEN and managing challenging behaviour. This is a full-time, long-term role starting immediately, with a quick turnaround to a permanent contract for the right candidate. You will be supporting pupils aged 11-16 in small classroom settings, helping to create a positive and engaging learning experience tailored to their individual needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide in-class and 1:1 support to students with MLD and associated behavioural or emotional needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted learning activities and supporting behaviour management strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Implement de-escalation techniques and reinforce positive behaviour strategies.
  • Support pupils with social and emotional regulation throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure consistency of care and progress.
Attributes:
  • Male Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children or young people with SEN (especially MLD or SEMH).
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour in a calm, patient, and professional manner.
  • Resilient, proactive, and adaptable with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
  • Experience working in smaller classroom environments or specialist provisions is highly desirable.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply).
  • Available for immediate trial/interview and quick start.
