Immediate start with excellent rates of pay for a part-time Science Technician position at an Enterprise & Science Specialist School. This role is suitable for an experienced Science Technician or a Science Graduate with lab experience looking to develop a career in schools.

A Science Technician is needed in a Mixed Secondary School & Sixth Form in South West London. This will be a part-time long-term position with scope to go permanent. The timetable will be 3 days a week, and the school is flexible on what days they can offer.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting and preparing practical lessons alongside the Science Teachers
  • Ensuring equipment and materials are safely stored when not in use
  • Guiding staff and pupils in correct Health & Safety policies
  • Maintaining and repairing all resources when required
  • Keeping track of what is out of stock and making the necessary orders when needed
  • Disposing of hazardous waste in a safe manner

The rates of pay for this position will be between £82.14 to £130 a day, depending on the qualifications and experiences of each applicant.

The School:

An 'Outstanding' Secondary School & Sixth Form in the London Borough of Merton. It is a mixed, 11 - 18, non-selective school with a wide demographic of pupils and staff. 90% of students stay in education or employment after Key Stage 4. The site has its own dedicated SEN Support Centre and a variety of sports facilities. Ofsted have noted there is a positive culture of learning and a strong sense of community.

Requirements:

You’re welcome to apply if you’re a recent Science Graduate or experienced Science Technician. Applications are also welcome if you’re British trained or overseas trained. All applicants must have the following to be considered for this position:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Clear and up to date Enhanced DBS
  • UK Science Degree or overseas equivalent
  • COSHH trained/basic Health & Safety knowledge
  • Experience in a lab setting or as a Science Technician in a UK school
