A welcoming mainstream primary school in Lightwater (GU18) is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their Year 3 team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who already has strong primary school experience and is looking for a consistent role where they can become an established member of the school team. Candidates must have at least one year of experience working within a primary school setting.

The Teaching Assistant Role

  • Work within a Year 3 classroom, supporting the class teacher and pupils throughout the school day.
  • Provide general classroom support across the KS2 curriculum.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions where required.
  • Support pupils with literacy, numeracy and other areas of learning.
  • Help pupils remain engaged and make progress.
  • Support positive behaviour and classroom routines.
  • Prepare resources and assist with classroom activities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and wider support team.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and enjoyment of learning.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant

  • Minimum of one year's experience working within a primary school - essential.
  • Previous experience supporting KS2 pupils would be highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of the expectations and routines of a primary school.
  • Confident supporting children's learning both individually and in groups.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, enthusiastic and proactive.
  • Reliable and able to commit to a full-time, long-term position.
  • Available to start ASAP.
