Reeson Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Irlam, supporting KS1 pupils with complex needs. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a Teaching Assistant passionate about making a real difference for pupils with ASD, non-verbal communication needs, SEMH challenges, and sensory difficulties.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide both in-class support and 1:1 intervention, helping pupils engage with learning, develop skills, and reach their potential. The ideal Teaching Assistant is patient, adaptable, and experienced in working with children with additional needs.
Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 support for pupils as a Teaching Assistant
- Support pupils with ASD, non-verbal communication, SEMH, and sensory needs
- Assist in-class learning as a Teaching Assistant
- Work closely with teachers and staff to implement strategies and interventions
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment as a Teaching Assistant
- Observe and report on pupil progress to teachers and SLT
- Promote independence, confidence, and social skills
- Adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs
- Contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities as a Teaching Assistant
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in KS1 or similar
- Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, ASD, SEMH, and sensory requirements
- Patient, calm, and adaptable
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
- Full-time, long-term role with the potential to make a lasting impact
